Jason Jones ICF-MN fills my bucket!! I look forward to the in person meetings to connect with my tribe of coaches and enjoy the way of being only coaches embody. It energizes me. https://s3.amazonaws.com/ClubExpressClubFiles/907122/graphics/Jason_Jones_1992631113.jpg
Bev Lutz ICF membership provides incredible professional networking opportunities, professional and personal growth, and opportunities to explore my strengths as I volunteer in service of my profession.  My chapter really helps me stay current with coaching, thought leadership, and learn-n-earn (CEU’s) from professional development events.  But it’s the supportive coach-friends and collaborators who have made membership for me priceless. //s3.amazonaws.com/ClubExpressClubFiles/907122/graphics/BevLutz1_669008720.jpg

Irene Kelly

Being a member of ICF offers me the opportunity for certification by the industry professional standard bearer; being a member of ICF Minnesota connects me to my professional peers for networking and collaboration.  Membership in both establishes me as “credible” and provides me opportunities to learn and grow.

President's Letter - February 2018

Shari Fruechte, ACC, CAP, OM
ICF Minnesota President

It has been a productive and full month for ICF Minnesota! The new ICF Minnesota website launched on January 11th. The new site is a great resource for members as well as those potential members who are looking to find us, especially the Find a Coach feature. If you have not had a chance to check it out, do so right now! And while you are there, please take advantage of your Member Benefit of adding a profile to the page. It takes no more than 10 minutes and I learned firsthand this past month that people do use it as a resource to find coaches. Do your next new client or colleague a favor and let them know you are a member of ICF Minnesota!

On that subject, as I mentioned last month, please be patient with us as we work out the tweaks of our new website and member management tool. This is the first issue of the Catalyst built on the new site and there is a learning curve that goes along with it but we will learn the features and functions as we go and improvements will come.

Our first Coaching Connection was a huge success! While we are working on tallying the feedback forms, the initial response was that people enjoyed the event and are planning to attend the next Coaching Connection and bring their friends! We are working on continuous improvement this year and the implementation of feedback surveys is one of our new tools, so please attend and then complete a survey and let us know what went well and also how we can better improve this organization. ICF Minnesota is a great organization and the board is working hard to make it even better. We want to integrate what we can with what the majority of the membership wants to make it even better!

Enjoy!

Leadership: Using Active Listening Skills

The Leadership Using Active Listening Skills interactive presentation identifies what active listening is, why leaders/managers should use it, and how to use it within team and personal settings so team members and other people in your life feel safe, heard, and valued.

This is a presentation Elizabeth has used for non-profits and for-profit managers and companies. At the end she will deconstruct her presentation with attendee’s, so you will know how to use the ICF competencies (or any topic on which you are knowledgeable) to construct a presentation you can market on behalf of your coaching practice.

Elizabeth Dickinson has worked as a life coach, speaker/presenter, writer and landlord. She has coached/presented in over 40 for-profit and non-profit organizations, including Land O’Lakes and Performance Excellence Network. She has written coaching books, including “The Coach Approach for Leaders: Get the Best from Everyone, Every Time”. Education includes: B.Ed. Honors degree/Cambridge University; M.A. in Psychology/Lesley University; life coaching certification/Adler Graduate School. She’s a former board member of the Minnesota Chapter of the International Coach Federation, where she initiated the Prism award which recognized organizational coaching excellence at Barr Engineering, Cargill, Pepsi and nonprofits including Better Futures Minnesota and Pregnancy Choices.

Former non-coaching professions include: professional actor, teacher, counselor and organizer, manager or lobbyist for the Minnesota AIDS Project, the Association for Non-Smokers, the National P.T.A., and Healthy Legacy – on topics ranging from comprehensive sex education, increased healthcare funding, and the smoking ban, to eliminating harmful chemicals from consumer products (BPA/baby bottles) and increasing public educational standards. She is a long-term board member of both the state and national Clean Water Action boards, Community Power MN and is a former board member/honoree of her district council on neighborhood issues. She has also run for political office several times. Last year she ran (and lost) for St. Paul mayor for the Green Party.

Other passions include competitive and social ballroom dancing, and creative writing, including a novel and musical based on the true-life stories of two 18th century female pirates who served on the same ship. She lives in St. Paul with her husband and two cosseted cats in a 1911 home with solar panels.

Booming Business Blueprint: Ready, Get Set, Go!

by Lynn Nodland, Ph.D., MCC and Robin Nordmeyer, CLC

Greetings, Lynn and Robin here with Masterful Coaches Community helping you to reach your goals for a booming business and a balanced life. Our last article was “Designing Your Best Year Yet!” In the present article, we will focus on ways to get ready, identify specific actions and move forward with your plans. Take some time to reflect on the questions. Your answers will help you with implementing a plan to get you where you want to be.

READY, GET SET, GO!

Are You Ready

Every successful business begins with a plan for accomplishing your vision. A plan helps you to stay on track and gives you the ability to make important decisions as needed along the way.

• What did you notice when you reflected on last year?
• What area(s) of your business will you focus on this year?
• What is your “Why” that drives your business plan?
• How does your business plan fit with your goals for life?

Get Set – Measurable Outcomes and Steps

Good business plans are inspired by great ideas, but need to be supported by clear outcomes and action. Action is focused on specific next steps to reach defined outcomes. Determine follow up steps to put your ideas into action. If actions are not completely straightforward, the clarity around the outcomes will help you make informed choices when you get there.

• What have you planned to start off with for your business?
• What progress have you made so far?
• What steps have you identified to accomplish your plan?
• How will measure your progress and results?
• What information, resources or help is needed?

Go - How will you take action, stay on track and be accountable?

The best of plans won’t make a difference unless you stay focused, plan and prioritize what you need to do and schedule the time to make it happen.

• What mindset do you need to keep going?
• What will keep you motivated and most productive?
• How will you manage distractions?
• When are you most productive?
• How can you automate, delegate or eliminate to simplify?
• Who will hold you accountable?

In summary, taking the time to reflect and answer these questions will help you to have a successful year. We emphasized the value of being ready with a solid plan. We provided some important questions to consider for getting set-up to work your plan and to stay focused and empowered for action.

We hope these ideas have been helpful for you. We enjoy helping coaches move forward on their business and life goals. Please let us know how we may be a resource at Support@MasterfulCoachesCommunity.com. Always know that we would be honored to be of service to you. We also invite you to join our supportive group at Masterful Coaches Community for support with creating more momentum in your business in 2018. We look forward to getting to know you.

Please share this article in its entirety to those who might find it helpful.

Here’s To Your Success,

Lynn Nodland, Ph.D., MCC and Robin Nordmeyer, CLC
