Sara Krisher, ACC
ICF Minnesota President
Every year we submit a Chapter Activity Report to ICF Global and I recently completed the submission. I thought maybe you’d appreciate knowing what we’ve been up to this year. The following is a bulleted list, but if you’d like more information about any of it please don’t hesitate to reach out.
• Defended the profession of coaching when the Board of Psychology proposed a revised definition.
• Ruthie Godfrey, Jennie Antolak, and Sara Krisher formed a tactical team. The result was positive to protect the profession of coaching.
• Participated in a panel discussion at the MNODN. (Minnesota Organization Development Network) John Owens, Past President did a wonderful job of representing ICF MN.
• Conducted a survey which went to all members and nonmembers to determine programming needs. Deb Johnson is leading a cross functional team to incorporate findings and develop the 2018 programming calendar.
• Supported the formation of the LCST Committee. (Leadership and Coaching for Social Transformation) The LCST Committee lead the May Chapter In-person event and more to come from this group.
• Created an Annual Partnership plan meant to highlight coaches and businesses. Maria Johnson is working to refine the Partnership and Sponsorship plan for 2018.
• Undergoing a website change and upgrade which will enhance user experience while saving the chapter $2,500 annually. Trish Perry is leading this website change team and appointed Christopher Johnson PM.
• Attended both the Global Leadership Forum in Poland and the Converge Conference in DC. Sara Krisher and Shari Fruechte represented ICF MN and brought back valuable info.
• Awarded the ‘Gaston’ award to Dana Kadue for 2017. The former Gaston winners and President-Elect, Shari Fruechte selected the winner.
• Continued the Board of Directors coach mentoring program and paired board leaders with coaches. Thank you to all coaches who support our board leaders.
• Administered an anonymous board satisfaction survey to make sure board members are heard. Thank you to Bev Lutz who continually offers her confidential service.
• Simplified the language and steps to become a member on our website. Tim Signorelli was instrumental in making this happen.
This is not an all-inclusive list, but I think it’s important for you to know just how hard our board works to make this Minnesota Chapter strong. We are beginning our strategic planning for 2018 and 2019 as we have identified our 2019 President, Trish Perry.
Please take a second to thank the board members who serve you at the next Chapter meeting.
With Confidence,
Sara Krisher

Booming Business Blueprint: Five Ways To Stay Connected With Prospective Clients
by Lynn Nodland, Ph.D., MCC and Robin Nordmeyer, CLC
Greetings, Lynn and Robin here with Masterful Coaches Community helping you to reach your goals for a booming business, balanced life, and masterful coaching practice. As coaches, we strive to develop skills and knowledge to do a great job for our clients and make an impact in the world. This article focuses on ways to stay connected with prospective clients until they are ready to work with you.
FIVE WAYS TO STAY CONNECTED WITH PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS
When a prospect is not ready to say yes, you want to stay connected to them to ensure they have your information and remember you until they are ready to invest in your services. Here are five ways to consider that will help you stay connected and front-of-mind with those prospects.
1. Send or email a personal note to them or reach out with a personal phone call. It’s important to understand what is meaningful and appropriate Always be respectful. Being pushy and invasive may actually drive a prospect away from you. Immediately after meeting a prospect, schedule time in your planner when you will follow-up. That way you don’t forget and they won’t fall through the cracks. It’s also good to make notes about each new prospect, such as where did you meet and what are their needs and interests. Note any special information about them that helps you grow your connection in a more personal and caring way so you build that all-important know, like and trust.
2. Send them something else of value. Knowing your prospects’ needs and interests, you can keep an eye out for the latest trends and information they would appreciate knowing. Then make a point to share an article that touches on an area of interest or need that was uncovered in your initial contact with them. Your sharing provides more value to the prospect and it also helps to set you up as someone who is resourceful and knowledgeable. An added benefit is that your prospects feel special and know that you care about them.
3. Invite them to a free event you will be hosting, or share the follow up recording if the topic would be interesting to them. The event can be anything you choose to do, but keep it free. This encourages them to stay engaged with you. You have lots of options. You might decide to do a free webinar or tele-call using one of the various virtual platforms available. You could host a live event on Facebook or YouTube. You might put on an in-person Open House or Workshop. Whenever you invite prospects to something, be sure to ask them to share the opportunity with others who might also find value in attending.
4. Ask them to opt-in to some type of follow-up sequence. What would you want to give to encourage them to opt-in? This could be your monthly newsletter or updates, a free gift such as a report, e-book, or course, etc. Automating the sequence of follow up provides you more “touches” to keep in contact and on their radar until they are ready to say yes. Remember, it takes several touches for some prospects to convert into clients.
5. Ask Campaign or Survey. This approach never goes out of style and it gives you valuable information about your prospects. These methods help you understand ‘what else’ prospects are looking for or needing before they say yes. It can also help you learn more about their wants, needs and preferred ways to receive your services. Then you can tailor your advertising, offerings and content to their preferences.
In summary, we provided five ways to stay connected with prospects and encourage them to hire you once they are ready. We encourage you to decide which ways work for you and put them in action.
Remember, you don’t need to do it alone. We invite you to join our supportive group at https://www.facebook.com/MasterfulCoachesCommunity/ for more tips and to connect with others who are building their coaching businesses.
